The first layout I’m going to be building is based loosely on the SNCF line between Épernay and Reims in the Marne Department of France. The line will feature three towns along line. The layout is being built so that individual components can be integrated into a standard T-Trak layout, or run on their own as a table-top or free-standing layout.

The initial layout will consist of 14 modules of varying types from quad-length modules to end cap modules. This layout will be the “Minimum” layout consists of a staging yard with a town. The yard is based off of the Murrah Staging yard. The town is loosely based upon Rilly la Montagne. The modules are built with the track running down the center of the module. This will allow most module sets to be rotated and displayed without problem. This minimum layout will be approximately 22 feet long by four feet wide.

Eventually the layout will be expanded to a C-Shaped layout consisting of three towns, with the staging yard being in the center of the layout along with one of the towns. In order to maintain operational interest I will likely be adding some industrial switching at or between some of the locations.

The equipment that I’ll be running is typically from Eras V, and VI. An explanation of the railroad Eras if available from Marklin. The equipment on the layout will include equipment from Trix, Kato, SudExpress, Arnold and Fleischmann among others. There will be need to be height restrictions for equipment run on the layout as there will be simulated catenary over the layout at a height of 22 scale feet.
